Nova Dance welcomes Kieran Heralall as our Metcalf Foundation Intern
We’re so thrilled that Kieran is going to be a full-time part of the Nova Dance team this year. Thanks to the Metcalf Foundation for supporting his goals to gain knowledge and understanding of the role of an Artistic and Managing Director.

“In early 2021 I was contracted as an artist by Nova Dance, and I witnessed first-hand a contemporary approach to directing an organization while creating space for a diversity of dance vocabularies. Nova has been successful in creating a company where corporate objectives are blended seamlessly with the artistic. While core members take on administrative responsibilities to ensure sustainability; artistic and creative opportunities are equally afforded in the remounting of works and realization of new projects. Nova Dance steps away from hierarchal and colonial structures making space for new voices. I discovered that Nova’s trajectory included a transition from finance to the arts and I asked her if she could help me make the leap to a full-time career in the arts sector. All the things I have imagined doing (and never thought would be possible) Nova has done. She has already helped me to develop my skills and expand my networks and over the course of twelve months she will enable me to hone existing skills and unearth new ones. I want to build up my sectoral knowledge, I want to learn how publicly funded arts organizations operate, and I want to merge my artistic and corporate experiences to be in service to the arts. An internship with Nova Dance will give me a place to be brave, to test proficiencies and learn from deficits. I look forward to the opportunity to make an impact at Nova Dance and fostering my potential into the next phase of my career."
