NightShift, paid live-streaming opportunity for Toronto dance artists
NIGHT SHIFT is seeking dance works by professional Toronto artists for its second annual late-night event to be livestreamed October 2020.
Application Deadline: July 16, 2020 @ 11:59PM EDT
What is NIGHT SHIFT?
NIGHT SHIFT is a late-night event that showcases innovative, dynamic and thought-provoking dance by Toronto movement artists. Initiated by Citadel + Compagnie in 2019, NIGHT SHIFT is a unique platform that provides performance opportunities for artists exploring any and all forms of dance.
Our original Call to Artists was released March 12, 2020, one day before theatres began to shut their doors in light of COVID-19. Since then, our call has remained open and we have been working hard to imagine creative ways forward, keeping the health and safety of our artists, staff and community top of mind.
And so, we are now pleased to announce that NIGHT SHIFT will be ‘shifting’ online!
Working in partnership with Fall for Dance North, NIGHT SHIFT will livestream 6 selected artists over 6 nights in celebration of the many forms being explored and practiced by Toronto movement makers. More details will be released in the months to come.
In order to facilitate a safe and efficient process and comply with social distancing protocols, NIGHT SHIFT seeks applications that fit within the following parameters:
Proposed works must be for solo performances only.
Proposed works must use original music, or music within the public domain.
Works are not to exceed 15 minutes in length.
Works should fit within a 30 x 30 ft. space and require minimal technical support.
Note: Citadel + Compagnie takes the well-being of our community seriously and moves forward with this plan with cautious optimism. In the event that The Citadel is unable to reopen in time to facilitate this proposed livestream event (due to municipal and provincial public health guidelines), selected artists will be presented the following year as part of NIGHT SHIFT 2021, in whatever form that may take.
