Weesageechak Begins to Dance 36

Nov 6 – 19

Aki Studio Theatre / Virtual

The 36th edition of Weesageechak Begins to Dance will bring together 22 Creators from across Turtle Island to develop and showcase their work. Join Native Earth Performing Arts for excerpts from these new works in development, and conversations about artistic process, both in-person at our Aki Studio and online.

 
 

Allies and Friends

Nov 10 – 11

The Citadel

Catch some of our Discover Dance alums in Allies and Friends! Featuring works by: Irma Villafuerte, Nickeshia Garrick and witlc members Morgyn Aronyk-Schell and charles c. smith with Victoria Matasoledad.

Presenter-in-residence, wind in the leaves collective, returns with their three-part performance series allies and friends, fusing poetry and movement for an evening of intimate and insightful performances.


CHAMPIONESS

Nov 16 – 18

Harbourfront Centre

“CHAMPIONESS” is an electrifying performance that combines boxing and contemporary, street, and Latin dance to explore notions of identity and mental health. Choreographers Sam Schleese and Mel Hart reflect on the power of solidarity amongst women as they face fears and navigate life-changing experiences, challenging society’s perceptions of winners and losers. Citadel Dance Mix 2023

The Citadel

Citadel Dance Mix is an annual program that celebrates exploration and experimentation. This year Citadel + Compagnie presents three works from four inquisitive emerging choreographers, demonstrating real variety and risk-taking.
